Based on memory (no I was not there at the time...its from a reference book)
I believe that a similar shield was issued to and worn by Rex-Walloon member of the Luftwaffe-NSKK. Either on the left sleeve or left breast even!
But I believe that the red Burgundy cross was embroidered on a LW blue-grey backing material, so it blends in better with the fliegerblusen thats these NSKK drivers were issued, while serving under LW command. Other than that its the same shield. I'll check my references tonight!
But the white one was never worn by Wallonie SS members as far as period pictures show!
They did where SS collar tabs with the Walloon Burgundy cross late 44-45, but rare!

I agree with Nick this shield was never worn by Wallonie Army or SS volunteers.

Very interesting info Nick! Does anyone actually own the burgundy cross tab? I'll bet this tab is missing from most collections.

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

Here's the NSKK version of this shield which was worn, same basic design but larger and in LW blue grey with red embroidery. Here faded. Picture taken by MRA at the Brussels Army museum

                    Rex Wallonien Waffen SS

Rex-Wallonien Waffen SS. Instead of Burgundy cross shield the standard tri-color shield was worn (Heer pattern as shown and SS pattern also existed)

Excellent research Nick! It also appears that the tab in the photo has larger clubs then the one shown by Bob. It seems there was more then one variation of this tab.
