some more details of the embroidery... the color of the batons isn't burgundi and the embroidery at the back doesn't seem convincing either

An original for comparison to the shield posted above.

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

Thank you Mr. Hritz, my gut feeling was correct.

                were these shields ever worn?

Is this a good shield? The color seems to match Bob's example.

No, it is like this one - which is not original

                    Cheers

What makes these shields not original? They seem similar in color and embroidery.

The most obvious traits are the colour, the back of the outer frame and the details of the Burgundian cross.
According to the collectors lore they were made in a very limited single batch, most probably using the same machine – hence all of the originals are absolutely identical, in each and every detail

The one posted by Mr Hritz is much lighter than these 2, but not because it is faded – that is the proper tone

Now I don’t have access to my collection, but after 1 month I will be able to post mine and then you will be amazed to see how the 2 look similar.

Here is my Burgundian cross shield. It is virtually the same as Bob's which I once had in my collection. I agree they were probably from a small test run and from the same machine. I think when the other one is posted you can see the same indents on the sides of the shield where they were bundled together with string. Imop.
