In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

I have to add that the thin cyphers that supposedly "just appeared in the 90s" were also around in the 80s and probably long before that.

        Bob Hritz's Cyphers

Bob's cyphers seem to represent a whole new version not yet pictured on the any of LAH cypher threads, unless I am mistaken? Does anyone have conclusive / reasonable proof that these thin cyphers are real or repro?

Off topic, but if Bob finds any more old boxes I'm flying to Arizona to see his storage area!

His years of collecting have yielded more treasures than most of us have ever seen.

            Good point, but...

              Metal Lah Cyphers

Iamattaching part of the article" Shoulder Strap Cyphers of the SS" by Frank Thayer published in The Military AdvisorVolume 9, Number 1,dated Winter 1997/1998. There are few articles on this subject and I find this to be a good one. I have only attached the three pages that discuss Metal LAH cyphers.

For what it is worth my cypher

I purchased this board from Steve Wolfe a number of years ago. It was published in a book back in the 1970's. And as was mentioned I am one of those persons that will not remove the cypher from the board , so that we can see the back.

Sepp Dietrich never wore LAH cyphers on any of his tunics, coats, etc.

Here a pair of his boards:
I am sorry to say Markus, but Dietrich did wear the LAH cyphers.
I have seen many pictures of him wearing them.

Thanks for the headsup on this older post Rob!

Yes, of course he did, prior to around April 1942, right?

In 1941 he wore them in combat

I am curious about one thing. I have been told in the past that all the loops in the letters should be hollow, or open, rather than drilled, or filled up. So far, so good. Yet I have seen several examples vetted as original by this thread in which the lower left loop on the "H" is not open, but filled. What is the story on this sort of variant?
