Chris if I may, I know one of the volunteers over at the IWM in the cartography section - more on that if you wish later - and also spoke with some of the staff at the CWM, which has a lot of reproduction German uniforms (terrible helmets) it was explained to me that museum displays are meant to give people an idea of the times and how items, clothing, weapons, etc were made/used/worn etc, but not nec. show the actual items. In cases where items are being represented as authentic era items then they should be the actual items.

You know what happened next. I posted the link of this thread and the pics in this forum. This stupid mod laughed about me and told me, i don´t anything about ss eagles and he is right, this eagle should be on paradefez and käppis and should be an " selfmade piece" and soon and i´m a fool and don´t know anything about this special case.

I knew, i were right. This is a german forum named Bodenfundforum (grounddugforum) . The mod there said, this eagle is good, and i shall not discuss with him, he is right. So, i think, he can really kiss my ass.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit to learn this was the case. It's a confirmed and well-known fake. Anyone who says otherwise is either completely clueless or has a 'hidden agenda'

I sure agree with that too! I'd say that anyone in his position, who stubbornly insists on the authenticity of a ridiculous fake, is suspect for being up to something. I find it impossible to believe that anyone in the position of moderating a militaria forum wouldn't be able to spot a bird-puppet-head fake. Not being able to spot one of those makes one look, well, as ridiculous as a...bird-puppet head!

I must go ahead and nominate this as the funniest WAF thread I've ever seen. Between the Bird-Puppet Head (a.k.a. Sam) Eagle and the Homer Simpson Skull, I've not sure which one has made me laugh the most, so far...
