    Yes, Flemish buckles have been faked but dont panic, they are recognisable!
    The “Delta” and “wolf angel” are currently faked in one piece stamped steel. Easy to recognise as this never existed in “real”
    I have seen cast copies of the SS runes buckles but so bad no one would believe it.

    No fakes of the “Lion” Fabriekswacht buckle not the “Blauwvoet” youth buckle yet

    When you write: one piece stamped steel, do you mean that the back is the same as the front or do you mean that it's flat on the back?
    With the Blauwvoet, do you mean the NSJV buckle? I've seen examples with very shiny belthooks, so I didn't trust them.

                    I took this picture last weekend at the Antwerp show. The cap belongs to a collector and was not for sale but I thought it would be nice to post a picture of it. Not an everyday cap.

                        I´m new in here, but found this thread very fast, because it is not that ordinary stuff you get nearly everywhere, this stuff is much more specific.

                          Hello Flanders and the rest of the world.

                          <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>

                          I picket this up yesterday from a well know crook dealer…. but I do believe it is original.

                          My question: is there a reference book / publication that describe all the variation of the Flemish / Walloon collaboration colours and units?? I’m getting plenty confused with the explanations of different people who all clamed to be an “expert” on the subject….

                          What where the colours on the piping of the caps. Green, red, yellow, silver??? And what are the roman numbers? Sometimes white sometimes red? And sometimes no number? I looked in the Flanders in Uniform books but did not find satisfactory answers to my question. What about the red piping?? “Walloon garde” or Kanaalwacht??? <o></o>

                            Marc,

                            Red roman numerals were used by our Walloon friends, white by the flemish. Caps without a roman numeral are generally attributed to the socalled "Kanaalwacht" ... but I always thought on such a side-cap there had to be a yellow piping ... as it is the case with one of Luc's, like you can see on the photo he posted of his headgear collection ... You can also notice this in the peaked caps, they are always piped in yellow ...

                            I did notice the red stripe on yours, but have no explanation whatsoever regarding to it ... locally made? postwar applied? something done by the original owner? ... hard to tell ... looking forward to other comments!

                            PS: I aso like the cap, the only concern is the red stripe/piping ...

                            Kind regards
                            Geert

                                Maybe the Walloons had also something like the Kanaalwacht and to make a difference between a Flemish and a Walloon Kanaalwachter there was a Yellow and a red stipe?
