Bob, that is because it was the first "real" SS cap he had seen in a long time.

I've walked around the MAX Shows and the SOS with Willi carrying some of his collection around - to show friends and collectors who have asked him to bring it, and it is amazing the number of people that just fix their eyeballs on his stuff... it's amazing how the original stuff just sticks out like a sore thumb and everybody knows it. Many come up and ask him if it's for sale. His late wife told a story about them being at the MAX when it was in Baltimore. He took his camouflaged panzer uniform down one aisle and then turned left and headed down another. She watched him walking away and then noticed all of the eyes of people along his route fixate on the uniform. They just all sensed it was original. So I'm not surprised about Kai stalking him and then asking if his SS general's service cap was for sale. He knows what is original... just doesn't sell anything original.
