I would place this eagle in the "maybe" category. It differs from the common Sieder fakes but has some matching details. I like the pointed wing tips on yours Gerd as well as the pionted inner wing feathers. The "single leg construction and no claw" design is what worries. The swastica is made of twisted bullion which is good but the details on the wreath are not in 12 - 3 - 6 - 9 order and thats an old alarm. The chest of the eagle is also better executed than some "Seider" or what is thought to be from the Seider company.

I cant say good or bad on this one.

WOW, John. I would have believed the above posted eagle, on the sleeve of iron gabardine in post 12, was original. Shocking!!!!!!

I should add that I had a named Tunic that had an eagle like Gerds on it but I was of the opinion it was a possible restored or made up tunic.

Here is an original SS bullion eagle from my collecton to compare with. It has these details I refere to. Its a classic "text book" design allthough I know some guys will throw rotten eggs at me for using this term but I take the risk.

I call it the double eye eagle. Its uniform removed as can be seen.
