I got this indirectly, tunic was stripped, had the m44 trousers, mint belt and buckle in blue, a set of pioneer boards, a coxwains badge and a mint wound badge in the issue bag, all in the box it was mailed home in after the war.

            Bob,

It seems that there was another thread where someone posted pictures of TENO or some other branch of soldiers that were absorbed into the SS or, at least, under their control and added SS insignias to their uniforms. I wish that I could remember where I saw it on this forum. Anyway, hope this helps.

This rather rare Panzer Jaeger wrap came out of a Vet's Estate in Oklahoma,it had no shoulder straps applied and appears unissued.

Wow there are some real Gems here and that is an understatement Thanks to all for sharing and keep them coming.

Does anyone know what were the restrictions (if any) for US/Canadian troops with regard to what they could send/take home?

                            cheers

From what US vets have told me it varied from unit to unit, but on the whole it was take whatever you like . Machineguns and grenades, etc were frowned on but plenty were brought or shipped home. The real limitation was how much you could carry along with your own stuff.

I know of a Master Sgt. Named Buckland who brought back the entire SS uniform of a captain I saw photos of the uniform with Buckland wearing it clowning around. He said it was stolen from him after he loaned it out for Halloween. I remember it had the Demjansk shield on it and DKiG with runic collar tab. He gave me two Daggers and a brocade that went with it.
