            Vet Acquired

JOHN PIC - You're the 1st person in many years to mention the name Bob Rice. I used to go to his shop for years. I bought a mannequin from him when he closed up his shop. What a character!!! One customer once claimed that his military MOS was classified. Most people would perhaps question, but not Bob. He just told the guy, "You're a f@*kin' liar !! I heard someone put a rattlesnake in his car. He once had an SS brownshirt with, what he claimed were custom SS cufflinks. Each one had the curved Swank "S" logo. I asked him what's the deal with the cufflinks. He told me, "S" on one, and "S" on the other equals "SS". Works for me!!!!

I bought a nice lw flight blouse from him in the 70s. Not overly friendly, but he had great stuff at his Santa Monica store. Used to stop by on my way overseas.

I'm sorry to hear that he passed away. Man, did I LOVE looking around that shop!! Just like a giant candy store. Plenty of junk - but lots of goodies to!! I think he was an ex-paratrooper. He certainly could be difficult, but I'm very sorry to hear that news.

                    WOW...

A beautiful Stammabteilung uniform (and visor) grouping! It is a real treat to see this wonderful and rare piece of SS history! Notice the way the title is sewn onto the cuff... Not nearly as neatly as one would expect to see. You are very lucky to have this in your collection, and I thank you for sharing it with us

                    Rob.

The ‘rig’ included a pair of high top black leather riding boots, a pair of straight legged white piped trousers and TWO black visors. One is an Officer, the other is an EM with an officer chin cord that has been in place for eons. The daughters husband was adamant that it was the uniform of a ‘high ranking Nazi Army officer’………

Great Stuff there guys. Love all those Vet stories and scores. You guys were the Lucky Ones. Just think of all the stuff that was just thrown away back in the 50's and 60's.

Texasuberalles, a fantastic score there. I got a little piece of that action in the form of daggers years later but you got the Lions Share. Congrats!
