    Stolen Skull

    Hi,
Interesting to see this thread. I was the seller who shipped it to LA and was devestated to find it had been stolen, I regret ever parting with it.
It was my only SS piece and had an NZ connection, being an NZ vet bring back from the Trieste area.
Im sorry for the buyer too as it must have been very disappointing. In the long run it cost me more to have it stolen financially than I ever got for it when sold, due to NZ Post not repaying the full insured amount and also the NZ/US exchange rate altered and that hurt me. Oh well, never again.
If only i could turn the clock back .
On the bright side, its good to see that it hasn't been forgotten and people are keeping an eye out for it.

    Cheers....Tony

Sh$t happens...I once bought an early D & S ges gesch skull and on the way back from the show the skull did not make it. I do not know where I lost the piece, but I think it was at a Chinese buffet when I reached into my pocket to get out my wallet, or maybe it fell out of my pants pocket into the booth...I was really dissaapointed for a while not because of the dollar value but because of losing a nice piece. The person that found it probably thought it was a piece of junk and chucked it. Anyway, life goes on you can't change things like that but in my case I am now more carefull with things that I buy and how I handle them.

      Best,

      J

Once I dropped An "M" Battalione Honor badge and collar device at the Allentown Gun Show. I didn't realize it until a dealer I knew called me over
to his table. He offered me the badge for sale knowing I collected RSI items. He actualy admitted he just found it on the floor. I told him it was mine and he handed it over on my word. I was very gratefull and somewhat shocked because he wasn't known for his honesty.

I also lost an SS Officers sleeve eagle that I am still looking for. No problems with the mail yet , knock on wood.

A truly honest man would have had the front desk announce that an item had been found, not try and sell it. What a #$@%!

Yeah I know that. I caught him off balance when I told him it was mine.

Without actually opening every box shipped, how would postal/fedex guys at hubs know what is in what box, or are they going by declared value and opening when it seems high? Just curious, makes one stop and pause.

I remember when the skull which started this thread was for sale here in NZ but I could not get very good images of it and did not trust the dealers story.

Well it turns out I was wrong and the skull was 100% and vet brought back from Trieste. If I remember correctly, the NZ soldier got the SS visor cap but got sick of carting it around and its size so he removed the skull and binned the rest. Sad in its own way as well.

Any way if I had known Tony was selling it then I would have paid up and it would never had got out of New Zealand in the first place.

Not that this helps anyone now but if it did turn up, I would be very keen to buy at a lot more than the going rate.

Makes me wonder if the SS guy who originally had it had bad luck as well ? Got a feeling that I got told he took a bullet and it was not a Kiwi one. Still it would not have been hard for any German to have got killed in Trieste at that time. In fact our Kiwi soldiers actually had to engage Titos forces and put up the first wall in what was to become the "Cold War" and devided the center of Trieste into a Commmunist and non-Communist zone. Some Kiwi soldiers were killed doing it by Titos men. Bummer for sure, see the Germans surrender and then get killed by Communist Allies.

All is fair in love and war but not the postal system at LA airport,

                          Chris

Mail isn't x-rayed, is it???? that could explain some missing things if so.

Good luck getting the TK back.
