Was wondering what anyone can tell me about this cap as far as originality, value, age, etc. Anything would help. Thanks.

I'm not the person to help you with all the questions that you have about this cap but what i can tell you is you are going to need to provide more fotos to help the list help you. Close ups of the material (both inside and out) as well as the underside of the sweat band and close fotos of the insignia will all help greatly.
The things that I see are:
it appears to have a vulcanfibre visor and not a leather one. That along with the sweat diamond on the interior leads me to believe this was once an Officer Schirmuetze that has had the chincord removed. Also, the interior material folds do not seem to conform to standards found on known originals.
