Help me with an SS auction please!

Calling all SS experts....
Whenever I see SS items for sale, I usually head in the opposite direction because I have seen so much repro crap over the years. I have reason to believe these items came straight from a vet so I am considering attending this auction.

I APOLOGIZE FOR THE CRAPPY PICTURE. its the only one I have. I dont expect anyone to draw any opinions on the originality of anything. A couple of questions...

What is the winged badge with the swastika in the middle? Some kind of DLV badge?

SS pins should be numbered and marked either "Hoffstatter" or "Gahr" True or False?

Would the cufflinks be marked?

What shoulder board is that?

If you have any original photos of SS pins or cufflinks to post, I would appreciate seeing some original examples.

Provided the stickpins, cufflinks and death head are original and in good condition, what would be the approximate value? (as in collector to collector, not Internet Dealer)....

As always, you expertise is appreciated. My thanks in advance...

Folding Knife

[SIZE=1]I cant see the items very well because of the poor quality of the photo but I do know that the folding knife you show is a fantasy item. David

Hi, you are correct about the SS stick pins. I would avoid the SS cuff links, as I beleive these are fantasy items? These, together with the fantasy SS pantograph knife, as pointed out by David, (Hi David, nice to see you here ) would make me very wary.
The shoulder board is for a fire Police NCO. Not very much value, say $10?
The M16 helmet will be original, as these are not reproduced, and would be worth about $50+.
The fork & spoon set, if original, would be worth about $30/40.
The book is a DAF membership book, worth about $10/15. These are very common.
I would not offer much above $100 for this lot. Discounting the swords of course.
The picture is so poor it is hard to offer much more in the way of opinions. Hope this is of some help?

The metal SS cap skull is, in my opinion, the reproduction version you see with three prongs coming off the edge of the skull. It has two near the top and one at the bottom. I believe these are fakes from the 70s.

Youve been a big help. I knew there was a reason I didnt collect SS regalia. Perhaps when he said that these items came from a vet, he meant a VETERINARIAN!!!! (or maybe a vietnam vet... the possiblities are endless)

I also thought the item he calls a "slide rule" was a folding knife... You mean one like in this photo (from a different auction)? All these things are fakes?

I may go just to handle everything and learn a bit. Do you know if the winged badge is DLV?

Hi Dave, yes, all those knives are fantasy items that never exsisted during the Third Reich era. I beleive that they originated from the UK in the 1970's. I can remember them for sale in "Exchange & Mart" magazine. Copies of these copies are now made in the Far East!
Sorry, I can't help with the DLV badge, as it is out of my collecting area. It is a good idea to go to the auction, as handling items be it real or repro is always good for experience.

Hi Dave

The badge with the "wings" & the large swastika in the middle is supposed to be a DLV cap badge however there are a bunch of repros. of this one floating around that were made in the 60/70's.

The rear of the fake ones tend to be marked with an RZM mark which wasn't actually in use when the DLV were formed.

The rear attachment mechanism is generally a metal tube with a safety type pin through the middle.

I can't tell if this one is bad however if you ask the owner if it has an RZM mark then you'll know. Hope this helps.

Those fantasy SS Fallschirm knives are in themselves a collectible item as a joke. I had one as a kid and sometimes wish I still had it as a joke! LOL!

I agree with Peter on the DLV badge. Lots of fakes, and the flatness of the one shown even in the bad photo makes me think it is one of the 70s repros. ( that ironically were nicely enameld, while the original I have is only painted)
