If this lot all came together Im pretty sure youve run into a hughe lot of high end fakes!

How does the rest of you feel? Like the initial shoulder boards for DF and LAH. Most of the times you see these with the prongs run though the boards and angeled to hook on the reverse. Here you have two pairs with not this feature including similar backing and a strange rzm cloth tag.

Shoulder boards for E looks ok though.

Well, Im suspicious..... Im sorry, its just my thoughts and you should really draw your own conclusions.

                    Maybe someone else knows more?

I believe that most of this stuff is reproduction. I don't like the LAH and the "E" straps (stenciling on them plus the tress is Army). I don't like the construction and materials on the Panzerjager boards. They are also the same side and the cord isn't done right. All of the collar tabs are bad in my opinion, especially the SSp and the Totenkopf with that fake stencil on the backs. On the DF boards I'd have to see better pictures of the side with the waffenfarben. As for cipher prongs not going through the boards, they weren't supposed to but often did, especially on slip on styles. I'd take the DF boards with a grain of salt and would have to stand them up side-by-side with my own pair to be sure. Otherwise I'd walk away from this whole lot. Sorry...

                        Felix,

                        Thank you for your comments.

It amuses me to notice that, although you dismissed all these insignia as fake, three collectors contacted me for the DF shoulder boards.

I wouldn't be bothered by the fact that the prongs are not showing on the back, on the contrary! Usually these shoulder boards were issued with the uniform and placed by the taylor when he made the uniform. Usually the prongs didn't show on the back, because this wouldn't have been a clean work, made on a commissioned work. Only in case of officers wearing boards on the field or if they were promoted, they placed the pips or numbers themselves, perhaps messing things up and letting the prongs showing on the back.

Many shoulder boards were just upgraded during the last 10-15 years to increase the value. It's quite interesting that nowadays you can find lots of boards on the market of Senior NCO or Hauptleute and so on... For me boards without pips or with completely identical metal devices or without the prongs showing on the reverse indicate a good sign of authenticity. The only question is the material, if it's real, not reacting to UV light for example. Furthermore I don't know how exactly are looking real "Tresse" or "pips"...

Just my 2 cents.... I would love to hear more comments on these, maybe also from the big "specialists" in the field .

Thanks in advance for looking into this matter!

                        Ciao,

                        Claudio

                          Claudio;
Well, I have tried to describe what I feel and its certainly not a rule. Like I also wrote you really have to draw your own conclusions and I only express my opinion. From my experience most shoulder boards have the prongs run through, even for tailor made pieces. And yes, with my knowledge Im sceptic about the DF boards as well.
All the shown collar tabs are fakes IMO.

Did all insignia came together as one lot?

Well, I just tried to help

                          /Felix

                            Hi Felix,

I don't agree on your prongs' theory, but you might be alright about the fact that these might be fake. But why? Are the materials wrong? The type of thread or bullion used? The design of the whole insignia? Are the metal devices completely wrong and why?

All these insignia have been offered to me by a dealer.

I just want to learn... maybe you could post an original for direct comparison.

                            Ciao,

                            Claudio

The DF shoulder boards might be good, but like I said, I'd have to compare these to the ones that I have at home. Mine are on an SS-Sturmbannfuhrer shoulder boards. I would also like to see close up photos of the waffenfarben to be sure.

To be honest, I would pass on the rest of this stuff. None of the collar tabs are good and I don't believe the other shoulder boards and straps. I wouldn't have these in my collection. If you have a single dealer offering you all of this stuff and all of it is bad, with maybe the exception of one pair of boards, I'd consider dropping the whole deal. Chances aren't good that the DF boards are any better than the rest of the stuff.

I can only post this SS VT "germania" board as example and with the prongs run through. Im not showing the reverse to avoid giving fakers what they need. But from looking at some Wehrmacht boards they usually have the prongs run through as well. I also ofcourse thing this version exists with prongs hidden, but I say thats is unusual to find two such pairs in a lot to good to be true. Im sure more experienced collectors can advice further.

                                Best regards,
                                Felix
