    Surely you jest

If this is an SS tunic missing its insignias without any signs of being a heer tunic then it is worth far more than a heer tunic dolled up by a dealer.
In fact Mike C. did you not sell your beat up canvas SS tunic restored with beat to hell insignias for $4500 on Bill Sheas website ?? When as you say the tunic may have been worth only $1500(unmarked private tailored canvas tunic with repairs up the yahoo) stripped plus $300 for the shoulder boards and about $700 for the beat collar tabs.Thats a total of $2500 Mike. According to your post here it was $2000 overpriced. Now I personally feel it was worth the $4500 but Im wondering how you came up with the logic you did here.

Sometimes a stripped tunic if it is proven to be SS is better as you know for sure that is what it started as and always was.How do you know the cufftitle is post war added because sometimes officers wore enlisted titles.I would love to buy that baby for $1500 today but Im afraid if its a real SS tunic Id be ripping the gentleman off.

      tunic

I think John is right about what that tunic is worth. I don't think you could buy a real stipped ss tunic for $1500 nowadays . But hey what do I know

        John,

        We obviously disagree.

            I just wonder: where can I find a mint AH-CT for 1000$?

From fellow collectors would be my recommendation. They are common and available. For reference, Bill Shea has one currently listed at $1250 - not long ago, a mint BEVO Reichsfuhrer-SS went begging on the e-stand for well under a $1000.

Now of course the one of the tunic will exhibit stitch holes and may have been trimmed.

This being said, it is your money and you should pay what you wish.

                tunic

hi apparently tunic has never had a breast eagle and when sleeve is turned inside out there is some stitching remnants of sleeve eagle and a triangle, thanks again for all the opinions as it is helping me to get an idea as to what to offer on for this tunic

I don't think this tunic is original. Why would a talor-made tunic have size and manufacturer markings and BW-SS stamp on it?
                  I think this is "ambush".

Because it is a field tunic probably tailored from an enlisted tunic judging by the pocket flaps and having a partial lining added for the officer and all probably don in a KZ camp.

Exactly. Tailor-made heer tunic with bogus markings and CT.

hi,i have contacted the seller again and it does have an ssbw marking in it,so does this mean its not a genuine ss tunic

No it does not and I challenge anyone here to post the proof that it does.I mean hard facts not just your speculation or stories. Offer some concrete proof of your damning opinion and how you know this.

                              John,

Ok - what is the proof that this is a good tunic?

As for this possibly of this being an issue enlisted tunic upgraded at some Lager for an officer, I would strongly disagree for all the reasons cogently noted above (not to mention the 6 button front and the fact that the sleeve eagle was sewn through the sleeve lings - an impossibility if this had started life as an issue tunic with no linings and a factory applied eagle).

So we have a tailor made tunic - but with a SS-BW stamp and a size stamp. What are the odds? What is the probability?

We have a completely stripped tunic - but with a near mint LAH cufftitle? What are the odds? What is the probability?

In the end, it is up to the buyer to decide. In my opinion, he should err on the side of caution.

                              Mike
