SS officer's tab

The collar tab appears to be an original that was removed from a tunic. The extra stitches are from the sewing that was attaching the collar tab to a tunic collar. Tag is fine, piping looks original, and I would not have any problems with this collar tab.

Gerd, Not always if you browse the Beaver books you will see more often when they were machine stitched it was directly through the wool. Alot of newly restored or faked pieces are not ,my intuition tells me this is because whoever did the work saw a photo of a hand applied tab where the stitch remains invisible and thought they should hide the machine stitching.Ive found this on a number of tunics and personally feel that again we see the same exact technique used on different tunics that supposedly were done by different tailors, very suspicious as Sherlock Holmes might find. Congrats on a unique original tab in great shape.
