Does your tunic have studio stamps? I notice the outline of the breast eagle and it looks oversized. I have a M40 ss tunic that was studio used post war and it had an oversized outline of a breast eagle that was glued on - looks like the breast eagle on yours was not glued, lucky you...

Thank you for your comments guys.
Restoration is close to be finished and as you said is far better putting your efforts and even your money in something you know is restored but that once was a real Waffen SS tunic than buying an "untouched" tunic that of course in the 99% of cases will be a restoration in the best case, if not just a "representation"... And most of the times made using an unissued or newly made base tunic.

Hi mate.
In hand I don't see any outline of breast eagle.
It could give that sensation from my pics, but in hand I don't see neither former stitching holes nor shadow, as for example are clearly visible on the collar and arm.
Apart from that, I can't fin any studio stamps apart from the faint size stampings

My error, I thought your tunic was the same in post #7 - that tunic I bet was film used based on the size of the breast eagle outline.
By the way, that tunic was advertised as Heer/Waffen SS but clearly it is not an SS contract.. it has a 6-button front, 3-hole belt support, etc..
So who knows if the Heer insignia was original applied and the SS set came later for increasing its value or its interest (which is what really happened in my opinion)

Yes , I agree that the use of non regulation eagles or pieces of cloth, the use of Heer uniforms or the misuse of other SS insignia happened during the war and there are a lot of examples, both in pictures and in collections.
But I always prefer considering the textbook items as the reference to be followed and not using the exceptions to the rule as if they were more than that, exceptions.
Of course we can find pictures of SS soldiers wearing Heer tunics, pictures of SS Officers (even high ranking officers) using Heer eagles in the left arm, pictures of SS personnel with Heer helmets, etc...
But the rule was that SS members used their own garment and insignia, and Heer members did the same.. so I prefer using that rule as my reference.

Thank you for your comment Nick
Your restoration projects certainly inspired me to tackle my own.. And I can assure that for me,restoring a true combat tunic even if it is well worn or not in the best condition is much more interesting than spending 10K in a mint unissued tunic with recently sewn badges.

Because I don't know how to start my own posts , sell on e stand and a host of other things despite my having asked on numerous occasions in the past . I've even posted what I thought was a reply in the past which somehow ended up giving the impression of it being the original posters comments . Uploading photo's has also been a huge problem and one that is not just unique to me . As I've previously stated , this site whilst hugely beneficial is at the same time not the easiest to navigate .there are many of us who are not as computer savvy as others . Ignorance of the unfamiliar is something we all have experience of so I'm sure you'll understand and appreciate my not feeling the need to apologise or feel embarrassed for my own .
It's ironic that I've had the more replies ( 4 ) and response to the errors in my first attempt than I have had replies to my requests for help . It was your reply of how to , that actually even got me this far for which I'm grateful , but even with the new format , which I personally prefer , a simple " how to " tab would of been easy to include and save myself and others like me a lot of hassle .
Regarding the S.S, eagles the police and machine stitched were given to me along with 90% of all my other cloth stuff in 1969 by the veteran who mostly took them off P.O.W ' S . He did tell me he was a non smoker and also sometimes traded his fags for some of them . I knew him all my life and my fianc'e nursed him in later years up until his death .
The bevo eagle was one that I bought in a box of odds and sod's including some British insignia at a boot sale . I was told by the seller his dad had been a biker . I'm no S.S. expert , these 3 items are the lot ! and I'll look at it again but it looks ok to me . I'll take better photo's and be interested as well as happy to have it appraised by anyone who is an expert .
