I guess what really tops it all is that this (Austrian) seller claims they come directly from the estate of a recently deceased SS-veteran. Goddamn, wouldn't you just want to lynch some sellers? I'm gonna give this guy a silver pitchfork he can give to Satan when he gets there.

If this is from Austria, it is likely from across the border, where they have resources and die makers, &c. to produce these things in Czechia or Hungary. It is an interesting twist to an old theme, really; but it does not duplicate or replicate an original in the slightest. Austria is such a nice place, thoguh, as are Czechia and Hungary, as well. Better to see the sights and eat the food there than to dauble in fake regalia.

And lets not forget even if it did come from the etstate of a SS officer, the piece is still no good. I have seen guys 'given' items from former SS men that it was obvious that the ss men picked up well after the war somewhere along the way. There were plenty of flea markets in the 1970s-1980s...

I know a WW2 US vet that was always selling fake daggers at gun shows, using the fact the he was a veteran. Only problem was that he served in the pacific!

I saw one of these about ten years ago, when I started collecting common regalia, (not SS), so these are at least ten years old.
Almost like a MAD TV version of the SS skull.

These skulls were worn by bikers back in the 1970s, so they are even older than that.

I well recall a biker roaring about St. Andrews (yes............quiet old St. Andrews) in the 70s wearing a Nazi helmet and swastika armband. No-one seemed to take a blind bit of notice back then. Put it down to eccentricity rather than anything else.

How things have changed.

While i agree with most of what you are saying I must state i have had some very nice items from Russia, its like anything there is good and bad and some places more bad than good, but we should not tar all with the same brush
