Sale.

That is an amazing sale - the transport cost would have been quite big - the big lady would not fit in my car .
The range finders - it must have been possible to find one which could have been restored to working order - amazing what turns up and indeed what is thrown out.
Which brings me to this .
I bought this transit case on eBay about three months ago - it is for the optical fittings for the "Device 36" the same range finder which Francois has shown above in what are some really excellent detailed phots - thanks for posting them up - they are really good.(Being a total anorak I could look at them for ages ). Sad I know.

The transit case - came from Norway - Army stores - no longer needed and earmarked for the dump - a local collector got it for a song and it went to the "God eBay" - I paid rather more for it than "a song" but it was not excessive - about the same as it took to get it from Norway to Ireland - which was expensive for postage . ( I keep telling my friend Peter who is a psychiatrist that as long as there are people like us around we will never be out of a job !)

The box itself is in good order sound throughout all the felt linings are intact and in terms of fabric and construction is very similar to that which contains the 12x60's at the start of the thread.

This one is for 4 x 10x45 monocular sights and 2 x 6x30 ( half binocular sights) , wiring looms and fittings.
I would love to be able to refill the box but it is going to be a long haul - in terms of the wring looms and fittings - it may never happen - wheere do you start to look ?

At present I have managed to get 3 x 10x45's , slightly later models than the ones on the illustration but as near as I can get.

Three 10x45's.

Progress so far , three 10x45's.
One came from Alfred Koenig collector and dealer - all in all in good order.
(The black one).
Rubber eye cup missing - almost always the case - either that or they are badly decayed.
Some "boyscout" decided to remove the CZ badge from the back of the optic , why do people do this sort of thing - a kick in the ar** being well deserved !!
The three colour fliter system works perfectly.

Came from Mark Bentley at Tiger Collectibles about three years ago - I had it cleaned - unfortunately some "boyscout" had been into it and damaged the illumination port - again why do some silly bast**ds do this sort of thing - "I wanted to see how it worked" - without the tools this is a fools errand - sorry this makes me really mad.
It works fine although I am bugged that getting light into the optic whilst possible is difficult - the sight comes up gold on black - great !! ( Boys and their toys).
( The 12x60 lights up in a similar way - battery box and lead - makes them "come alive" again.

Dr Hans Seeger was kind enough to give me this along with a mounting plate for a 12 x 60 .
What can I say - the optic is clean can be adjusted , the fliter system works but some utter prat decided that silver hammerite would be "good for it" - utter boll**ks !!

Why do people do this sort of thing , do they leave their grey cells in bed , idiots should be jailed for this sort of thing - it is criminal !
The fittings for the eyecup and lens hood removed and long gone - anyone got any tips on how to get that gastly paint off - please let me know - I might post this up in the conservation section - it will have to go!

I am sure such abuses are not new and other folks have come across "Gold and Silver helmets" , runes removed and dagger blades ruined .

If anyone has anything like this and wants to sell it please contact me ASAP - presently at least two are wanted .

The interior of the 10x45 - the man who cleaned it had the tools and the knowledge - why in the name of God do people play silly buggers with things they know nothing about and can't even get into .
What do they hope to achieve ?

12x60

This one belongs to my friend Peter ( De Laet) a man who knows his onions on things optical - a first rate considered second opinion and a good friend.

The 12x60 can be adapted for use on the 10x80 tripod - it makes the binocular easy to use - in fact it could have been made for it - to do this a mounting block and adaption plate are required.

I have just recieved this 10x45 in the post this morning.
The device has been cleaned ( a good job done) and repainted in this grey colour .
Grid in it is similar to the one in my 12 x60 a square grid divided into 16 squares , marked 0 - 10 , 20.
This optic may be "No 2" in the series .
It will have to come off , good news was it came on its mounting plate - the inseret in the box is cut to accept all optics on their mounting plates.
I found another in a gunshop in the US and had to move quick to secure it - hopefully it will arrive in a week or so. ( Numbered No 3).
Must sort out Tom for his and that would make a good in road towards kitting out this box.
