    parts of an shut down USAF plane?

    Hi,

    these items came from a German WW2 pilot, who collected items from shut down planes.

    Is one able to identify the type of the plane?

                    Hi,

                    My quick guess would be a P-47. The image in post #4 is a pitot tube while the prop is for a four bladed model. The "shark fin" pitot tube was used on the P-47. The tube was located on the left wing out close to the wing tip.

                    If not from the same crashed aircraft the prop could possibly be from a B-26. Also, the B-25 used a "shark fin" pitot tube as well. If war time or a few years after it would be a USAAF aircraft. The pieces is posts #1-#3 should be pretty heavy!
