Some of the holes do look like bullet holes but I suspect they weren't fired from an aircraft. Someone probably took pot shots at whilst it was on the ground.

I have no problem with the bullet holes if it has been attacked from the side. if they had been shot on the ground had they been more round and clean.

The fins in Canberra and London are from his last aircraft, IIRC he didn't score with this 110. It also only had the kill markings added hastily just before they were to surrender to the English, presumably to give them an idea of who they were capturing.
Looks like this fin is from an earlier 110.

Jal, I'm confused by what you're trying to say?

It's an original panel but the holes are a mixture of bullet holes shot straight at it from 90 degrees on which is practically impossible in air combat plus some of the holes are obviously not from bullets, see the other thread about pick axe wounds in these authentic panels, plus there is always the possibility of artillery shrapnel.

None of it matters though, I'm sure it will still sell for a lot of money!

no no Ben, I thought just that I had found some new pictures, and you're probably right about the holes. I have tried to compare with other aircraft which has been shot at. (Searched online) some of the holes are certainly not from bullet holes (from rivets?)
