    Very rare Luftwaffe insignia

I think it is a good idea to show some very rare Luftwaffe insignia in a special thread. Not the usual stuff encountered, but items You only find with a lot of luck.

Hope PaulR and Gary B and others will also contribute to this thread.

I start with two sets of rare Luftwaffe Felddivision tabs and boards, an EM of the veterinary corps and a transport Leutnant.

    Enjoy!

    Best wishes,
    Steve

Wow... now that is some holy grail item there. Can you please show us the reverses?

I am sooo envious. I have been looking for LW vet stuff for about twelve years now.

LWFD prior to Jun1943 used the light blue slides for Field Police.

Here is a nice Disciplinary Unit set.

JAL, that is an amazing board. WOW. I dont recall seeing that embroidery. What does it represent?

IAW Vol 1 of "Uniforms and Traditions of the Luftwaffe", page 578, "Uniform of Soldiers Transferred for Disciplinary Reasons":

Soldiers wore the standard Luftwaffe uniform, but without branch color. The collar patches were made of blue/gray basic cloth with appropriate rank gulls. The shoulder straps were without piping and had the machine embroidered bright red roman numeral of the Luftgau where the unit was based.

Here is another that I like very much. It is for the highest rank in the GFP, Oberfeldpoliziedirektor.

I have not seen any other one that I've shown here, got it from a friend for some years ago, I thought it was fun with the front and back did not think about what business it was from before I came home
(Vol 1 of "Uniforms and Traditions of the Luftwaffe", page 366) that there is a photo of one who is in metal. Air Technical Academy (Lufttechnische Akademie)
