These aren't market values, but probably prices you are willing to pay, I'm not aware that 2,5 K is a market value for such a tunic, the ones I've seen the last couple of years all were cheaper.

I do like "market values" and do pay them, but not prices that are too high and out of balance.
Question nowadays is what is market value ?
..Because people are allowed to ask what they want, no ?
So, there isn't a market value.
There's only cheap, reasonable, rather high, double, triple and ridiculous ..
Reasonable/normal prices should be considered as market value IMO.
If you go buy a new car, you've pretty much a idea what the price will be, you can pay double ofcourse, but it's not the market value .., you'll end up with a expensive car, regardless how nice it might look and what other people say.

2K in usd is 1500 euro. That is the current market price for a trop tunic. At least the last 5 on offer in the last 2 years had that price tag. If you can get one for less congrats to you. I have been looking for a nice worn one and cannot find it. The one offered by Mike Davis was super nice but unfortunately cost 3,5 K and yes several people were willing to pay that.

Market value is no more no less than market price. So there is a market value. Market price is not what anyone asks for it but the price at which an item changes hands i.e. is sold. You can not compare militaria to a new car. A new car has more or less a fixed price namely the one that is set by the factory producing it. Militaria is like classic cars. These are rare and are no longer being produced. If nobody wants a certain type of classic car it is cheap. If a lot of people want the same type the price goes up. Is a million dollars too much for a classic ferrari? Not if people are willing to pay it. If people are willing to pay a price it becomes the market price. The market price is what it is. It is not cheap, expensive or ridiculous. It is what it is namely the market price and as people are willing to buy and sell at that price it can be considered a reasonable price. It may not be the price you are willing to pay and therfore you find it an unreasonable price but to the market this does not matter as others are willing to pay it.

Can prices go down? Yes they can and have done so over the last years. Are current prices for militaria high? Compared to bread yes, compared to art and cars no.
