      Hi Harry,

First time for me to see Wico zippers on flight boots.
      Any tag inside?

        It is not unusual,
original boots but civil used and altered after 45.
        Not rare.

        Regards,
        Gerry.

          Regards,
          Gerry.

My first thoughts also...but I can find no evidence of where another zip would have been and removed, no old stitch marks etc. Also, postwar used boots often had the ankle straps removed.

Czech made IMO .., are there any markings on the inside of the soles by chance ?

..only a faint marking on the inside of the zip flap which reads 150 - 42. Possible period made under contract in Czechoslovakia?

                luftwaffe boots

I think the marking was a palm of a hand with the letters WICO, still had the luftwaffe bump type sole. Had a pair of winter flight trousers with this type of zipp, but told they were post war, hope this helps Paul.

A collector I know had a pair of these, they were marked 1943 ..

Still think they're Czech made for luftwaffe or maybe their own units of ustasha flieger maybe..

                  Jos.

                    Flight Boots

Here is another pair of flight boots bought this weekend ($100.00), at the Raleigh Show. The dealer had the boots and a stack of 'declassified' tech manuals on aircraft 190's 109's 262's all brought home by the Vet. The boots are rough on the inside and looked to be resoled, when who knows. Another with the WICO Zippers. Enjoy. DL

Very interesting Dave, they look identical in construction to mine but re-soled/re-healed. As Jos says, most likely Czech made for Luft/Ustasha pilots. A lot of gear was made for the luftwaffe in Czechoslovakia
