However, if by BoB you refer to the July - October 1940 airwar over England (and not to the later bomber raids) and you indend to depict a fighterpilot then I wonder whether the parachute is the correct type - Me 109 pilots generally wore Sitzfallschirme, not the Rufa 12 b you seem to have here (which is more associated with bombers and, later in the war, Fw 190's. IIn addition to Andy's observation re the life vest, I also wonder whether the LKPS 101 flighthelmet shown was in fact the one (commonly) worn by fighter pilots during the BoB, or whether they in fact wore its predecessor, the LKPS 100.

Anyway, thanks for sharing another very nice set up.
      Regards,
      Sandro
      Hi Sandro,

thanks for your comments. Yes I was going for a fighter pilot. But it looks like I need to go bomber if I want to keep this set up early war and combine it with the current parachute. I will be getting in a Kapok vest so I can change that around. I think the 101 flight helmet however should be good for 1940.

Do I indeed need to get the black compass as mine is later war?

      Cheers, W

For BoB you need the flightsuit with horizontal fly IMO.
The swimmingvest, like said, should be the closed back or another type with open back, but with rubber tube with metal mouth piece.
Seat chute ..., then I question the flare straps, they are made of material close to tropical belts, I haven't seen these types in era pics sofar, mainly because they're Czech fantasy repro's with only place for 6 flares and I can't imagine that during BoB this particular material was used.

The BoB thing is rather complicated because of early items, later on anything was possible.
...but like Paul says, Its harder than people think to put together an early battle of britain display.

        Nice mannequin btw, nice pair of N & G , what's the size ?

        Jos.

                          Swell job

Excellent representation with the aforementioned minor details to be sorted out at a later date.
Looks like he'd be right at home on the tarmac. Superbly done.

Willem, my Battle of Britain set-up, for reference...showing the items already mentioned as typical of early-war fighter pilot - Lkp100, double-zip boots, Full-backed lifevest, earlier compass, seat-type chute.....
