Battle of Britain summer Luft pilot in full kit - ENJOY!

Hi Guys,

as the weather is nice I thought I would bring out my early war summer Luft pilot in full kit for you to enjoy and comment on. If you see room for improvement please let me know. The only thing I know which is not good are the late war boots. I mean to change that once I find a couple of early war, preferably brown ones. Sharing the is as always much appreciated.

Another excellent representation set off by the fine mannequins and good quality kit.

Personally, I would change the compass for the earlier black 'kadlec' type and, if you have one, a full-back type kapok lifevest. The 10-30B2 type, from memory, did not come out until 1941. I know the full-back kapok lifevest is very, very difficult to obtain.

These comments are not meant as criticisms of the fine represenation you have put together. Thanks agin for showing and putting this together.

Very nice display, some realy nice stuff, but for battle of britan you need early flight equipment full back vest early brown hoffman boots or double zip boots, early fight suit, 100 flight helmet,early marked gloves, your flight helmet may be marked early, 1937, 1936,so this is ok. Its harder than people think to put together an early battle of britain display. well done your diplay is realy nice Regards Paul.

Very nice display, my compliments.
However, if by BoB you refer to the July - October 1940 airwar over England (and not to the later bomber raids) and you indend to depict a fighterpilot then I wonder whether the parachute is the correct type - Me 109 pilots generally wore Sitzfallschirme, not the Rufa 12 b you seem to have here (which is more associated with bombers and, later in the war, Fw 190's. IIn addition to Andy's observation re the life vest, I also wonder whether the LKPS 101 flighthelmet shown was in fact the one (commonly) worn by fighter pilots during the BoB, or whether they in fact wore its predecessor, the LKPS 100.

Anyway, thanks for sharing another very nice set up.
