    Mad about Luftwaffe collecting?

Some people take it to another level. One photo, 566 euro.

There were 2 or 3 photos of this Me109 from the same seller. I didn't see how much the others went for but they wouldn't have been much cheaper. Good day's selling for him!

From what I can gather, the machine of an identified ace in a rare paint scheme is what made these photos so valuable but I still think it's crazy.

This is what happens when there're a couple of 100 fish' and only one piece of bait ..

...on the other hand people are paying 10-15K for a helmet which isn't unique and this photo probably is .

Another photo album destroyed by stupid buyers and sellers playing a stupid game.

              Ridiculous, yes.., the whole hobby.

I suppose it depends on a few factors. If this was my Grandfathers machine, I would probably pay anything for these photos.

That means that there can only be one person or one family who it means so much to though.

But it must be at least a second one who is willing to pay almost the same price to get the final bid that high.

If people get into that " I gotta have it " zone, they will pay a PREMIUM PRICE for what they are after. For me personally, that's a lot of money for photos.......

The stylized S on the back of the photo looks like the one used by JG 26 Schlageter, a very famous unit

No offense to photo collectors, as I have quite a few myself, why pay many thousands of dollars to see the same image? With badges or guns, they are very physical actual representations of war, and photos, you can get the same effect from a computer image.

I think for many, the most exciting items are the uniform and headgear realms, and often represent the first stage of collecting. Accordingly, I don't have any photos yet - I plan on acquiring albums after I have purchased other things.

That said, I didn't realize how expensive some of these things can be! I saw a Fallschirmjager photo grouping at a high end dealer within the last two weeks and was floored when I heard how much they were. But I guess like Jos expressed, it's all relative when people are paying 15k for helmets.
