Here are the early flying helmets 100 s and 100w summer & winter. Hope you like them. The winter ones are very hard to find, summer do turn up from time to time, their are both getting hard to find, as the years roll on, hope you like them Regards Paul.
Helllo Paul,
Really impressive.
As you said, those 100's type are really hard to find an the price accordingly.
Here is a W 101 with a W 100 tag, it must have been one of the early types converted into a W 101.
Lousy photos I did these a few years back, I should do some better shots of it...
Bob
Dear all,
This is a bonus! Some lovely flight helmets shown here.
Eubank - The upgrade was essentially about the improvements in the radio equipment housed within the flight helmets. If you take a look at the flight helmet that Bob has shown, this helmet is a really interesting evolution from the 100 to 101. Bob's helmet really is a transitional type that I have never seen before.
Bob's has the set-up for the 100 in the microphone that goes round the neck. Instead of the solid leather piece around the neck shown on your traditional 101 in posts 1 and 2, Bob's has the more flimsy 100 set-up for the microphones. However, he has the earphones of the traditional 101s. Very interesting!
From my experience the 101s started being manufactured in the summer of 1938 and if you look at photos from the early war Luftwaffe, the 101 is becoming more prevalent all the time.
Best regards,
Andy
I have an LKpS100 that has the 101's leather earcups but the 100's throat mics. It's in storage but if I dig it out, I'll take pics. Lost another 25 posts today!
