Vor Gebrauch Sprengkapsel Einsetzen stick grenades?

    Hello all,

I have been told the WW1 versions (in the link) are fantasy/reproductions as the verbiage of "Vor Gebrauch Sprengkapsel Einsetzen" is basic gibberish in the German language. My question is, are all stick grenades with this phrase to be considered fakes, or does the M24 posted below stand a chance of being authentic?

Trying to learn here. Perhaps the ones with "Sprengkapse" (missing the "L" in the word Sprengkapsel) are the false ones, can anyone please help me clarify?

you need to have a word with Jeeeensy - he is your man for Stick Grenades.

all I know is that the fakes are getting better and better, do you have any photos with the head unscrewed. Photos of the underside of the head, the top part of the stick where the detonator screws in, the top of the can itself and also the base with the screw cap removed will all give clues as to wether it is good or not.

      good luck, regards Kev

Yes, the one word is missing the letter L but there are many other reasons why the grenade in the link you provided is incorrect.

Personally, I like the grenade in the first photo. The stenciling on the can is appropriate for early grenades and that one is dated 1937. More photos would enable us to give you a more definitive answer but I like what I see so far. Hope I'm not wrong.

The grenade in the link is a fake, there were a couple of these posted around the same time, they are rubbish and the reply in one of the threads states this clearly. the remainder that have been posted in this thread (exception being the pic of the fake arming instructions missing the "L") are all look to be good M24's. BUT as always never commit 100% without lots of detailed photos or a hands on inspection. studying originals and pics of originals and their construction and the variations of manufacturing as time progressed is a must.
