So you paid slightly less then 600 for this Kw.K. 43 round ?
Damn, prices have gone up these last few years..

80 for a 5 cm Pak 38 round on the other hand is good value for money.

      Zünder,
That sure is high price for the round.

80% of the amount comes from the casing, grenade+fuze is remaining 20%.

I would try to find PanzerGranate into that casing.

I have still about 10 complete KWK43 cases, all with Pzrg 39/43, plus about 8 spare pzgr, all with Bzd5127, so i'm a happy man now :-)

Guys, with regard to the actual restoration, i was wondering if it would be senible to get the projectile shot or bead blasted to remove pitting and corrosion? I have been having a think and I now want to fully restore the projectile including spray painting it black with a white tip (as i understand it, AP colours) I also need to find the steel/brass casing and find out what stenciling the projectile may have had originally.
I am quite excited at the thought of having a nicely restored 88mm in my collection.

          Cheers,

          Stu

            Hi,

I paid £180.00 for the Tiger round which I thought was pretty good value. The case is not in the best condition (some small holes where the rust has eaten all the way through). But what with the proper fuse, good condition projectile etc I though it was worth it. Those alone in the UK now are £70-80 if you can find one.

Stu - I would try blasting it. I don't think a light sand blasting will do it any harm although once again I don't speak with any experience but I guess that liquid stuff plus a wire brushing would have pretty much the same effect just slower.

If any one has a AP projectile they want to sell me then I'd be happy.....Dutchknife, it sounds like you really should sell me one of your spares....

            Richard.

The projectile is one of the standard Finnish ones you find and it has been painted at some point. I can take it out of the case so if you still want to see the complete item let me know and I'll post some more piccies later today.

                Richard
Thank you for the offer Richard. I though the projectile looked like an Ex Finnish Flak 18 projectile so now that you have confirmed it the pictures will not be necessary.

The Kwk 43 used the 8,8 cm. Sprgr. Patr. L/4,7 and 8,8 cm. Sprgr. Patr. 43 HE projectile which seem much more difficult to find than any of the AP projectiles.
