10 Rnd Box Japanese Navy 13mm MG Ammo

Enjoy this 10 Round box of Japanese Navy 13mm Machine Gun Ammo Manufactured August 1939 Yokosuka Navy Arsenal, 10 Rounds Armor Piercing ... Marked on the back of the box by a GI but spelled wrong from the Solomon Islands... I thought this would be of interest with the New HBO series The Pacific on TV every Sunday night for 10 weeks, and the first two episodes starting off on Guadacanal...BILL

Nice box and rounds, Man. Japanese ordnance is very rare to see in this condition.

              Bill,
As always you show the coolest goodies. My question is this: Is the round crimped in the shoulder area? The picture seems to show a single verticle crimp. If so, the shoulder is crimped all the way around? I know nothing of this sort of ordance so forgive my ingorance if this is common knowledge.

Bill, it's not Solomons but Salamaua in New Guinea! Probably a 32nd Division man's bringback.

I was excited because I had a single 13mm AP round......but what's neat is that it came from the same place in New Guinea!

Chet, I noticed that on Bill's shell as well. Mine has a single crimp in the neck, it's almost like a friction fit. I wonder if the mark we see on Bill's is a defect from the lighting?

It seems to be the lighting in the picture.. These Japanese Navy 13mm rounds do not have a crimp at the neck..Hope this helps some..BILL

                    Hi Bill,

the ability of the US GI to bring home things never ceases to amaze me!

Boxed Japanese ammo is very seldom seen over here as you can imagine.
