M39 Egg Grenade Tan

I have a chance to pick this M39 up. Looking for opinions. Don't think it's a repaint. There is no fuse. The M39 is a bit lighter in the photo.

That is a reproduction made by the company G-max. I used to do some work for this company in trade for some of their high quality reproductions. G-max no longer makes these items so there is a finite number in circulation.

They made quite a bit at one time.... panzerfaust klein, panzerfaust 60, all variations of M24 grenades including smoke, egg grenades, rifle grenade launcher and site assembly, magnetic mines, excellent FJ helmets and other items that don't come to mind at the moment. Now G-max Tailoring is operated by my buddy Rob and he does custom uniforms, smocks, etc....

Yes, the G-Max company made a real work of arts with its ordnance repros. The problem is that, like always, some of them are used for what they have not to be used.

If you can just check the BZE39 fuze hole. If the grenade has a little thread in the hole for screw a fuze.... then it is a very good and hard to see copy. As Fern says, this one with the paint is easy to see that something is wrong, but with a good paint with some wear...

I took an original fuze form another M39. I screw it to the G- Max. The fuze went in with no problem. Wow! that was a surprize. G-Max must have been darn good.

there was a sweet one on the Estand just last week. the best one I ever saw. was asking $450 for it with a post war fuse. I would have bought it right away had I the money. its no longer listed though. Glenn

450$ for only the egg, I think that it is extremelly expensive. Also that colour, it was a rare sand colour. I´m not saying anything more that only it has a rare colour.

I definitely agree $450.00 is high but to be honest I personally never saw a tan egg for sale and this one is (was) 99% finish and maker marked/'44 dated too. even if I did had the cash to be honest I probably would have a tough time handing it over for that amount. I might chicken out at the last second. but I sure would love to possess one. Glenn

I had 5 tan eggs about 10 years ago, bought them at the local fleamarket for 3 Mark, (1,50€) each! I hold only one for my collection, sold the others for 25€ each!!!
