Well, 10 years ago the prices were different than now. And 20 years ago I don´t want to think about They were really cheap. In the last five years the prices raised up a lot. But I still think that that price for only the egg body was not logical. The problem is that if the seller find a buyer who pay what he asks, then the next egg will want to get the same price. But not everybody is rich.

The tan M39 you refer to Glenn in my opinion was either repainted or a reproduction so dont sweat about not buying it. I think you will find the markings are the same as the G-Max one in this thread.
I to would love a tan M39, a good friend of mine has a couple of them...one day he will sell me one...hint hint .

Hi Guys,
Just thought I would check-in, as I am the one who has the egg grenade on e-stand(it's still there, just not bumped to the topagain). As for the price. I really don't think it is illogical, it's just what it would take to seperate me from this piece. I could use the cash, but really hate to part with it. I think alot of guys out there know this feeling, as I see a lot of items that are "overpriced" and never sell. The worst that happens is it doesn't sell and I keep it.
Andrew(MG34NZ),
Could you please let me(all of us really) know why you think it is reproduction?
The body is two piece constuction with the crimp at the middle ring. The fuze well is crimped in around the top. It compares very well to other egg grenades I have handled over the years, but I am far from an expert. You mentioned to just look at the maker mark compared to the G-max one in this thread. Is this a maker code that G-max made up?? Please don't feel that I am "attacking" you, I would just like to know if I missed something and it is repro. Thanks.
Best Regards,
Jared

Heres my reasons for doubting the originality of the grenade.
The paint looks far to fresh and from my observations grenades in this condition would retain there WaA markings and in some cases ink stampings and show some age, and gwd is a code that from my reference sources is non existant. As I said if I can be corrected here so be it.
I hope that is of some help to you

both M39 identical
Hi Andrew, hi all,
I have serious doubts about the M39 at e-stand too.
It is identical to the one from G-Max at least concerning the maker's code and date.
The only difference in my opinion is that Jared's was aged a little bit and the G-Max color was removed as it was too obviously new looking.
The "new" paint however which it has now is a little better in tone but far too shiny for an original one.
And as Andrew states in this condition it should retain the WaA markings and in some cases ink stampings.
Sorry but I'm sure the e-stand one is a refurbished G-Max item !

Hello !
Do you perhaps remember how much they were at the time ?
Thanks in advance,

Hi,
It seems that there are still some for sale:

(Sorry, I don't speak taiwan language (Chineese ?).
And the GMax manufacturer doesn't do that anymore: http://www.gmaxtailoring.com/

Bruno, you hit in the target! Great job with that link. Seems that my firsts thoughts are confirmed now. I don´t like to be the first on say: IT IS A FAKE, but this time it was pretty clear. I commented it with another forum member out the forum and he thought the same than me. Jared, I´m very sorry about this. It is very frustrating when you discover it. I still have your first pics sent to me showing the egg, do you remember? At that time when I saw them I already had bad feelings about the grenade, but as I said before I don´t like to give bad news to another collector. G-Max made terrible copies, very hard to see them original or fake.

Guys,
Thanks for all the good info. Unfortunately I got bit on this one, but should be able to get my cash back even though its been awhile.
Miguel, Jens, and Ferd,
I would love to see a thread with some good close-ups of your tan eggs to see how this one compares. I will try to get some good shots in the daylight of mine to post for comparison.
