Hello! I would like to see if you guys can confirm the authenticity of this strange object - a cap supposedly from the light cruiser (WW2-era) Emden.
While I would like to believe the guy's claim that this is authentic, this website has taught me to be suspicious of such claims. Also, there are plenty of Emdens over the years in the German Navy...and I haven't found any cap that matches this style on the Internet. I was thinking it could also be Reichsmarine since the Emden was built for them originally, but the caps don't match either.
In short...
-Is this cap authentic for the era?
-Which era was this cap used for - Reichsmarine or Kriegsmarine...if proven authentic?
-What kind of sailor would be wearing this cap? Would it be a lower-ranked person or an officer? Just some background information on this type of cap for information storage and display purposes...
Thanks again!
