Here is the makers stamp seen in a KM Tropical M 43 cap and a KM Helferinnen side cap.

The stamp you found in the thread is missing the "dot"that comes before the first zero in the RB Nr. The stamp found in my cap has that " Dot "

Nonetheless, and that is what would make me more comfortable, is not to have something like say 95% convincing but a non-brainer... But that is for me of course.
As I said, I'm not 100% sure about good or bad, but there are many unusual detail with this one, so I'm not comfortable with it. Cap is almost mint and unused, so why the lining is damage ...

Jens, all the caps that I have seen with this maker RBNr code had the year stamped, but not this KA sides cap, also unusual.

I understand; but please bear in mind, I have not to be convinced, as already said, this cap would not be for me. Still, I'm intriqued by the similar marking in a Helferinnen cap, also issued to KM... Does anyone know if that one had the year marking missing as well? Unless that cap was a fake, that would shine a different light, on the markings at least.

HPC, Hermann Potthoff CoesfeldIn, was a very well know Kriegsmarine tropical caps maker, in post 16 you can see the lining of one of this and of a Marinehelferinnen side cap. In all of these I always have seen the year.
