Looking this thread I wondered again(then the years)if none of you the Km cap tallies collectors who had a huge of them(not me I own 20 aprox) would be interested in Publishing a book about it showing them apart with sailors pics wearing those tallies,we lack from that type of book by the way.

Fully agree with you Fernando - it should be a fairly "easy" task to assemble such a book accompanied with photos of individual Mützenbänder in wear.

On my part I've got plenty of photos regarding the KM Narvik 1940 destroyers which I would be more than happy to share with anyone who would take the challenge of writing such a book

It's very disquieting if you think that half of these unit met their fate in Narvik

The 10 Narvik destroyers are the hardest to come by and fetch a high price due to the rarity and the number of collectors. There are many Norwegian national collectors who also look for these and collect them.
The Anton Schmitt is extremely rare. It was the last produced tally before the order to stop productions with ship names, divisions, unit names and to just wear the standard "Kriegsmarine" designated tally. The timeframe, the issuance and the quickness of the ship being lost at Narvik makes the number of tallies very small. Take that with almost 70+ years and the number of these tallies remaining in circulation is minuscule.


This was a dream that I thought would take several decades. I am glad to have a completed zerstörer collection.

It's always a pleasure to see other collectors that proceed with a method.
I never liked collections that look like a storage or a bazaar
IMO a nice collection need few items, which have to be related with the others by some criteria and need to be nicely displayed.

I am still working on finishing up the Unterseeboot collection. Just missing one:

That will complete that section of the Kriegsmarine.

I already have the Panzerschiff, Schlachtschiff, Kreuzer, Torpedoboot, now with the Zerstörer and my recent closing of the Schnellboote fleets, I could collect the sailing ships, ( I only need three more of those)
I think I might break into the Kaiserliche Marine tallies. Might try for the Battle of Jutland and the tallies of the participants.

Ship Wappen is another area I have expanded on. I have some nice ones already, would be great to add some more.
