    Torpedo stopwatch - Wagner

    Hi Guys,

Spotted this for sale today. Not my area of knowledge. I was a bit concerned about the budgie-like appearance of the eagle! Is it any good? Full working order. If it is right, what's the approx value I should offer please? The inner dust cover over movement is engraved "A.B"

    Thanks in anticipation.

    Kevin

        Warning fake Kriegsmarine WAGNER stopwatch

100% fake Ukrainian engraving! I can't believe that anyone thinks this is a period engraving, fellow collectors: wake up!! Several others WAGNER stopwatches are being sold on ebay with other engravings such as RLM since 2013 already, today the same seller is more into selling leica camera link this one, is there anyone here who still believes this original WW2???

Thanks for your message glaser. Ironically there is another mistaken believer, but not from the forum. I sent these photos and an e mail today to Dr Konrad Knirim, author of some books about Military Watches, who's details I found on the Internet. Here's his reply:

"For me the watch and the marking looks authentic."

          Gruss Konrad per Funk

I've had several people p.m. asking to buy it too! I haven't even bought it myself yet. Now I really am confused. Come on collectors get your act together.

            Hello Kevin,
I am also in direct contact with Herr Knirim and I really appreciate his knowledge, books and experience, but with all my respect for him I must say that he is not a specialist on fake KM markings on stopwatches. No criticism, just a fact.

Check out this thread where some collectors were thrilled about the nice stopwatches and their originality until I started posting my comments.
            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ight=stopwatch

Anyway, this is just my opinion and I am not at all stating that I am the greatest specialist in this matter, but I do collect KM more than 25 years already and have identified many modern fakes already.

PS could you please post a very detailed picture of the engravings?

            thx
            Joe

Glaser, it seems you are in the minority...
But I know that you can't be convinced.

                  Let's agree to disagree..

It is not the majority that will win, but the truth
Agree to disagree, but I would love to see the picture of your watch

No need and mine is in the bank safe. Looks exactly the same. And: I inherited mine from my grandfather who was a crew member of U-527. Original! But think what you want to think...

In post #2 you wrote "have the same" and now you write "Looks exactly the same", but since you do not want to share pictures here,
To bad, I thought that was the aim of this forum: to share, discuss and learn.

                            Kevin,

In this book of Herr Konrad Knirim, the manufactor WAGNER is not mentioned at all!konrad knirim.jpg

A lot of clocks and watches are not in there.

                              --------------------

From moderator, above post OK. Any insults will be deleted. Stick to the facts. You have stated you inherited your example from your grandfather and that is interesting since it would help in the discussion if you posted images front and back of that examples.

I can assure you that I have heard this before and when the inherited item was actually posted it was similar, but not exactly the same, as the example being discussed. Especially with war badges.
