the identification plate indicates the 3 letter code for wartime production, "lyt" which is "Siemens Apparate u. Maschinen GmbH", this firm also produced the telephones for KM U boats.

I doubt very much that this came from a u-boat as the word tauchen or dive is missing .
If a period piece it most likely came from a surface ship of some type .
