    Personally i wouldn't like to have a converted cap everything is possible but it sounds that there has been messed with which is very pity. We all knew that during the third reich plastic has been used but this material was hard and not really flexible. I think that the bill has been replaced after the war the theory of replacing only the rim sounds not logical,,...but everything which counts is if you are convinced of the originality of this cap,....you are happy??,.....yes,....we also

      If i was you i would post the same photos in the headgear section see what they have to say (Stonemint, Steiner, Gebirgsjager and so on,...) but i think they will have the same opinion like Km Spain and Michel

        I think the so-called "plastic" edging may have a chance of being okay. Years ago, I posted photos of a Pekuro Luftwaffe officer's cap that featured the same visor edging. It received generally good reviews at the time.

              Sorry, but that excuse the guy gave you is a load of crap. Yes, the interior looks good, but if your ok with a cap that may or may not be screwed with them so be it. If I'm spending a couple grand, I need to sleep at night knowing it's the real deal. Plastic edging is a major nono on period KM caps.

                  Sorry for my tardiness.
                  The eagle has been re-sewn.

                  I share the other's concerns about the visor--one of the easiest things to do is take an NCO visor, remove the visor, and "upgrade" it with officer (or Admiral) "scrambled eggs" from the early BRD era.

                  This might have happened here, but like Ben, need to see the the attachments.

                    Here is what you may want to try doing. There usually is some excess trim here--you can snip a piece off, and then (using tweezers), hold it to a lighter. If it melts, it is plastic. If it burns to ash, it is non-synthetic.

                      Aren't these hard plastic reinforcement bands a standard feature on Kriegsmarine Donald Duck caps? I have one with it that is period made...
                      I will try to find pictures...so not surprised to see such a component on a visor too!

                        Yes Nick, but that's not being called into question. The added/replaced bill is trying to be determined here. I think once a photo of the underbelly of the visor is provided, then a final determination can be made

                          OK. Here we go. WIth a tripod. Not enough light. Some with flash and some without. I want to get this resolved so that, if necessary, I can contact the guy that I bought it from in short order.
                          Bear with me. I may put up too many pics, but I am trying with my meager skills to give you what we need.
