An official patch was shown in "Die Wehrfront", magazine for the army, navy and airforce from December 17, 1936. Such patch can never be from 1935 as then the flags did not exist. The flag was first published in the "Marineverordnungsblatt" from August 28, 1936 (order B. nr. 2550 A, Ivz). Maybe it is of interest: the patch ONLY was worn for the duration of the occasion. So it should be easily to be removed.

The first such flag was granted September 14, 1936 to the II. Marineunteroffizierlehrabteilung at the annual Party Day at Nürnberg. Not earlier as then other flags were handed over and granted. Normally a gorget was worn by flag bearer's, but not with the navy. For them a flag bearer's gorget was never introduced. Only the patch in white and blue backing.

    Nice photo post 71.
    Why?

It might be because of the several reasons, one of them being that the insignia shown in posts #65 and #66 is not original ;-).
I really doubt there were private sewn ones, as the need for them wasn't wide and approved originals are beautifully made,
just as the ones we see on few photos available.

A thread starter is original, so it's not hard to compare.

Thanks for the other details, though ;-)

      Hello wS:
Great post, as usual. Thanks for the much appreciated info.
Seems to be why no KM-FT patches are seen being worn on Adolf
Hitler's 50th Birthday, in Berlin on 20 April 1939, as shown below.

Why? Yes, that is what I thought, the patches not be original!
The patches lack more detail. Not the one from post 1 as this a correct.

I was just studying the existing photos of Standard bearers of kriegsmarine, and I've noticed something.
From this photo, it looks like on the right pole top in yellow frame (which belongs to the sailor visible bellow) only the eagle is gold gilded, and that the teardrop frame is silver. Is that possible?
Small second photo is a detail of the right-side pole top with enhanced yellow tones, and it's clear that there are no gold tones on the terdrop.
