Yeah, more like a generic poster frame from Walmart.

Yes. Back when I had tools it's a mahogany thingamajig I made.

Here's the other two displays. Sorry for the delay.

              Very nice and interesting.
But you are needing some ribbon from the spanish armada.

                Nice Eric G.

You have a sampling of quite a few navy's around the world. Interesting to see the similarities.

Wonder what the background for naval tallies came from. Which Nationality first came up with the idea of a tally?

                Thanks for sharing.

                Regards,

He just answered the first one, I answered the second. No problem.

really enjoy the great variety of bands, thank you,

question on the KM Talley's can some one share a scan of the Zerstörer Karl Galster. As I would like to see a close up of the "Galster" name, G and the st

                      thank you E ~

Best I can do for you with a comparison to another destroyer tally. Both are gold wire I think. For sure the Galster is.

thank you John, it appears from your Talley pic that in Galster the st is not as tight as the ch is in the talley above. I had thought the ch and st were quite close. This could also be the case in just he way the pic and the talley band is falltened out I suppose ......... if this makes sense
, but on the other hand maybe it does appear equally.

                          E ~

Do not worry about letter spacing. This is not a material fact to muetzenband authentication. You need to concentrate on reverse thread appearance as discussed earlier in this thread if in any doubt.

So, lets say you saw this tally on ebay and you had a doubt. I would email the seller and ask for a reverse image of a couple letters. A quick look at the front coupled with a detailed look at the reverse is what you would go by.

Just get familar with what cellon, gold wire and cotton threads look like and you will be OK.

                            Letter spacing varied.

I would agree with that John, as I just have wire tallies maybe you can put up the three differences for a comparison ? ~ cellon, cootn and then wire.
