    Very lowlot number?

Hey i have a question, i own a m40 stahlhelm marked with NS64 B3, i was wondering if someone could check GHW or anything for that matter to tell me for what the helmet was used. Because it was painted after the war.

        Sure it's an M40? An M35 is known with B3, shell 64.

I love the rope on it, and lettering. Very unique.

Well the helmet is a bit messed up it was painted again in the last couple of years (not by me) and it is possible that the air vents are just missing but i will post some pics in the morning (i'm on my phone right now).

here are the pics of my helmet. I know the paint is wrong the decals a re wrong and the liner is from a m34 helmet but it's just about the pot. I thought it was a m40 but now i'm not so sure anymore.

The lotnrs don't work that way because helmets with the same lotnr could have gone to different branches.

well what are they for than?

And if mine is stamped with B3 and it's a m35 which i can't see does that mean it was one of the very first NS helmets ever produced?

They are just a batchnr for the steel sheet that was used , nothing more.
They can help us pinpoint the year of manufacture combined with the other components. I'd say B3 is a very early shell.
But NS also used other prefix letters like E and D.
I have an E10 DD Heer with early decals and a 1935 dated liner.

Lotnumber catalogueing is ongoing which will require a lot of data interpretation for years to come.

I have an NS64 M40 with the lot number B1.

It was re-issued as a firefighters helmet after the war, so no way to tell what branch it used to be.
