Have posted a few images of authentic damaged Heer decals on M35s for comparison. Both are painted around the decal area with various degrees of texture as you believe to be the case with the M35 in question. The contrast is startling and should instantly alert any viewer. IMO.

Do not know the name of the person stating that it is typical of an early war M35 decal other than that of BLITZ67, but I would challenge that assumption and ask if this individual could post an example of same.

Blitz67 is me, Brad smardo. I have been collecting helmets for about 15 years now. The liner is 100% authentic any collector with a trained eye could see this original and not a Norwegian liner. The decal is also right on, no doubts. This is a nice combat used M-35 and I see nothing wrong with it what so ever except for the price! It should be a couple hundred dollars more.

The point we differ on is the decal as we have reached common ground on the liner having been tampered with, whether post war or at the time is another matter.

Unfortunately the Heer decal does not portray any attributes that I would expect in an original. Areas undamaged exude incorrect & deficient defining detail.

Neither do I see this as a close run race.

Consequentially Brad, my pricing would be at a divergence with your own!

Of course, this is only my opinion.

I think the decal is just so beat that it dosn't show much definition. For a decal to take so much abuse and wear it would have to be an original. I doubt a repro decal could take such a beating and still show the detail it does. IMHO

Well its definitely not a Norgy liner ,we all know thet have round brass rivetts holding the leather on .The decals wear is like its been eroded .I cant see any trace of any other colour anywhere not in any cracks or under the rim apart from little bits of white around the air vents and under the rivets .I think its an m35 that had its tricolour removed painted white had that removed had a replaced liner and was worn a lot ,Rob .

Robb and Brad-Norwegian liners. Post war helmets as used by the Norwegians came with a variety of liners. Yes, the most modern post war re-issues were fitted with brass studs, some even had newly made up liners and the shells were usually repainted, but the Norwegians at first issued German helmets to their forces unmodified with the exception of a dark red dyed liner and possibly a decal. The dyeing process looked as if it was carried out with the liner in situ and the original liner studs where retained. Recently these have been appearing on ebay but have been sand papered to remove the dye (usually still leaving tell tale traces). Some have went one step further and redyed or 'boot polished' the leather to get a more used appearance. Thats what that liner reminds me of.-Adam
