I went to Stalingrad over the summer. It being July, I didn't expect there to be snow as there was during the battle but I wasn't ready for the record breaking heat. Apparently it was the hottest and driest summer in recorded history. 45 c. was normal. (113 fahrenheit)

how much was the German helmet in US dollars?
Looks like I see the one you got still on the table, to the right.
When I was in Poland last year... prices ranged widely. One person would want $25 US.... another $300.. for relic helmets in about the same condition.

Nice photos Ken i've been to Stalingrad a few times and am going again in September next year hopefully it won't be as hot !!
