I've read thru the whole thread now and I'm more convinced than ever that whats buried should stay buried.. In post 143 and 144 there's some bones showing and no one commenting on it?.. I'm not sure they are human, but wtf..
Later on, some poor soul asks about a relatives death tag whom was reported missing in action. My heart aches for you mate and I hope you get some clarity in the matter and in a more organized fashion!
Don't get me wrong, I'm genuinly interrested in militaria and understands that these items were produced to cause death and make war, but from what I've seen in this thread, there's nothing new presented?
Is the world of collecting enjoying a huge benefit from a mountain of buckles, clothing-buttons or rusty live rounds? I don't think so. All these things are available to see in almost any museum, and in better shape for that matter.
I mean; there's plenty of stuff ABOVE ground to go around, so why disturb the fallen?
Thats just distasteful IMHO.
I know that I maybe sound like self appointed saint here, but this is just the way I feel and I had to write it.
I don't want to destroy this thread with a discussion, II'll just stay clear of it in the future.

H.Hedning, diggers shall report it to the local authorities if they find human bones, 'black diggers' do not do that and they just throw it back in the hole which is horrible.
Dog tags does not equal human remains, many dog tags along with a ton of personal equipment were lost and abandoned during combat.Comment

in post 143 bones of horses eaten by German soldiers. Each bunker lie the bones of horses ....

Hummel; I almost understood that it wasn't human remains. I'm not a medical student or doctor, so it's not easy for me to see the difference. In the posts I mentioned there is no horses hoove visible. Anyway, thank you for the information.
Peters; Yes i can see what you mean, but that doesn't do it for me. I would love to go to Volgograd myself and visit all the famous places where there was fierce fighting.
Maybe do a memory plate of my own and place in a good spot for all the guys that never left there. (But its for the best to do it in wood, otherwise the chance of it being put up for sale on e-bay is quite big i think..) it's ok, I'm just one person who has a bit of a problem with greed, nothing to recognize. Carry on.
