Fantastic pictures. Any chance of more pictures of the landscape where you can link the German division linked/ stationed in that area? Jacques

The 3. Infanterie-Division (mot.) was in November 1942 near Dmitrievka.
On November 29, 1942, together with the rest of 376 ID, the 3.ID mot. moved closer to Stalingrad

The two headed eagle is, I think, the symbole of the Kingdom of the Serbians, Croates and Slovenians, in other words Yougoslavia.

The two headed eagle is a chetnics simbol ( serbian 2WW army ) who fought only in the balkan and its strange how it can be found in mother russia, Chetnicks where fighting the germans, Croat Ustaša and Tito partizans, so perhaps was a war suvernir by some croat ustaša solder who fought with the germans in russia, i dont see any other explanation!?

"The two headed eagle is a chetnics simbol "

IKA66, you are confusing the Serbian egale with the pre WW2 Yougoslavian eagle. The eagle found at Stalingrad has the symbols of Croatia (checkered flag), Slovenia (three stars) as well as Serbia on it. You can see a similar one here, note the date and country of the coin: http://www.babamim.com/yahoo_site_ad...130300_std.JPG

I know some Yougoslavian units served on the eastern front with the Germans; and then again this could be a souvenir a german took from a Yougoslavian soldier.
Below is more what a Cetnik eagle should look like.
