Diggers at Volgograd (Stalingrad)
I don’t agree or disagree what you do, as long as you do it with respect when you find remains, German or Russian and they are treated reverence and turned over to the proper authorities for possible identification and a decent burial . I was in Volgograd in September 2006 for the dedication of the “Cemetery” of the missing at Rossoschka as a member of the Volksbund Deutsch Kriegsgräberfürsorge. I went to see the name on the granite blocks of my great uncle(Grandmothers Brother) Haupfeldwebel Jonny Plüschau, 29th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Erkennungsmarke -604- 1/I.E.B.29, listed as missing in action 21 January 1943. I would ask if by some small miracle, you find his remains, that they be interned with his fallen comrades at the mass grave in Rossoschka.
