            Soviet rank insignia for an NCO. These were worn in the corner of the collar tab and were gold coloured and denoted NCO's status at a quick glance. They were discontinued as they made a good target for snipers.

            Enclosed is a re-enactment photo of me wearing one, as I don't have an original photo on hand to share.

                        There is always the danger of hitting unexploded grenades or mines. In the Japanese forum part, there was a digger who hit a grenade that went off, lucky for him it was a smoke grenade, but could had been one with explosives
