Yes, that's what I meant, thus the whole helmet finally... But on the contrary as Philippe, I needed the close-up above...

And Sean was finally right too about the "chalky" effect on the wire : damn, what a job !

So, where are we on this one? Did someone take vintage wire and add it?

I'm kinda of late here,. But I would have to say no on this one. Maybe be a hard one to judge by pictures but I say no

The last thing that would come to my mind is to say that the decal is bad.I can't judge on the wire, but based on that only picture I see nothing wrong with the decal...why should this be a fake??

          cheers

Fake Army or Navy eagle helmet decal

            Hello Jan,

Have a look to this thread:
            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...threadid=16029

The decal is a repro = wire and patina are not original from the period.

            We all learn each day.

            Happy collecting!

Thanks alot Philippe for clearing this out!
It was just very though for me to judge on only one picture...I was not able to see those errors from that one picture, because I never saw this new 'fake', jeezes they getting quiet good!

Interesting about that right wing. I know fakes that have the smaller left wing and also originals with this , and apparently these new fakes have the small right wing!! They're indeed very close to originals...

              Cheers

I thought it might catch a few, it would have fooled more if the decal wasn't applied. Very nice job on the fake patinia as well...They're faking this dust build up on the better chickenwire fakes now. I've seen it in person and looks pretty good from photo's but not as convincing when hold it in your hand. They're using this on places like eBay so once they get the money and the helmet is sent it's all over...the trap has been sprung...
All they need is to make the helmet look damn good from photo's..In person the originality will start to fall apart

                  Philippe,

You never answer a question before it is asked at least four times, hmmm ? Un trait de caractère assez féminin...

So, I'd like to know - and maybe a few others here too - or I'd rather say, I'd be very thankful to you if you was kind enough - and I honestly hope this question does not bother you too much, moreover even if it's not the subject of this very thread - to tell me (us) please, if KM M42s are as scarce as you suggested in your so amazingly and even incredibly interesting and valuable book "Le casque allemand de la seconde guerre mondiale", and also regarding KM M35s, please, could you tell us ? Could you ? Please ?
                  Could you ?

                  Thanks !

                    KM M42s are scarce

                    Bonsoir Chris,

In fact original KM helmets are not easy find, for statistics I'll say if you have 10 KM helmets:

-70% are M.35 (DD, SD, camo and reissued)
-20% are M.40 (SD and camo)
                    -10% are M.42 (SD & camo)

Just my personal observation, other collectors may have a different experience.

                    Happy collecting!

                      Thanks, Philippe

Very interesting and surprising statistics ! I did not imagine that among KMs, M.40s were finally rarer than M.35s ; and that M.42s were that scarce !
That makes me look at my old salty M.40 in a quite different way...

                      A bientôt,
