Looking good..Virgin chickenwire helmets are very rare. Can you post a pic of the entire helmet from a slightly longer distance so we can see the whole thing in one pic? I would like to see the overall appearance, I enjoy chickenwire helmets, probably more than SS helmets..

      Chicken wire photo

      Hi Perry
Heres a better view, it does not look as dusty on this pic.
in fact the photos dont do the helmet justice at all

      Cheers

From the photos that helmet looks superb! I too have this thing for helmets with wire. This helmet is done in a very "German" manner, unlike alot of the bad ones.

            Small chickenwire

            Nice picture Perry
Our helmets could be twins apart from the wire band around mine.

I was given the helmet in 1977 for cleaning out a pub cellar ,I was an apprentice at the time decorating the pub, the landlady asked for a hand and my boss nominated me. at first the place looked full of junk and I had a big ol bonfire going but after a bit I started coming across some interesting stuff(When your 16) dusty stuffed owls old historic local photos ect, When I mentioned this stuff the landlady said take what you want but make sure you burn the rest
After a couple of hours I found some really old tradesmens tool boxes, a framed picture of the Battleship Prince of Wales, A stuffed snowy owl like Harry Potters , and then there they were! mixed up with some old rusty bar fittings three helmets , the first one was a double decal fire police the second was my chicken wire and the last one a good ol British tommy helmet.
The wire helmet is all ive got left now. I tryed years later to find out the story behind the ww2 stuff, the former land lord had been a paratrooper and he lived near my parents as I knew him I asked him one day" did you bring back the German helmets"
"No he told me but he could remember seeing the helmets during his time managing the pub after the war . The story was that visiting American servicemen Who drunk there had donated the helmets as wall hangers to the then pub landlord, When the pub was refurbished after the war the helmets were taken down.
I have advertised locally for anyone who may have photos in the pub during ww2, because the provernance of a picture of the same helmet on a 1940s 1950s photo would add to its value
(not that I would ever sell it

            Has everyone fallen asleep
            ZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZ
            Regards

                    That's an awesome helmet, Sean...

...and a great story to go with it! It's damn lucky YOU were
picked to burn all of that junk! Of course if a stuffed owl collector
reads this, he won't think so!!!

                        Hi Bnz
Is that the helmet that your good looking mannequin was wearing on your thread about m40 tunics.
It looks okay for a display

What about a swap my helmet for your mannequin

                        Regards

How much would a helmet like that be worth in comparison to a usual dd ss Perry?
