This is one of my first new items from my leave back home . I was just able to make out a date of 1940 on the liner band - there was so much dust & crud between the shell and the band, I could hardly see anything!
The helmet is maker marked EF64.
When I got it home last night, I looked at the remnants of the decal, and noticed that it may not be a toned heer like I initially thought because I see gold metallic color in the wings of the bird. I will try and get some better pics of this later tonight or tomorrow. It's a shame so much of the decal is gone.
Also, the helmet appears to have a very mild camo. There are areas that are a brown/feldgrau mix painted over the feldgrau.
One other interesting note - the helmet had been victim of shrapnel, and had been sent back to the factory, patched up, repainted in that two spots, and sent back out. They did a fantastic job!
All help is greatly appreciated
